Focus of treatment
Manual Therapy – Manual Therapy is a specialized area of Physical Therapy used for the management of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. Manual Therapy utilizes a multitude of “hands-on” techniques often combined with therapeutic exercises and neuromuscular re-education.
I have found that the combined, highly specific treatment approaches of quality Manual Therapy and strong clinical reasoning is the most powerful combination for uncovering the “diagnosis beneath the diagnosis” for effective and lasting rehabilitation – especially for that of chronic and re-occurring orthopedic pathologies.
The goal of all Physical Therapy is help people return to the fullest function possible. Even though a significant focus of my practice is based on Manual Therapy, the other aspect of returning to function is movement re-training. Movement re-training – through therapeutic exercise – is typically an important aspect of rehabilitation necessary to restore strength, flexibility or coordination.
My training has been eclectic. Major courses I have studied and applied include Spine and Extremity Mobilizations, Sacroiliac (SI) joint Dysfunction, Shoulder Rehabilitation, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Feldenkrais® and Therapeutic Touch®. The following areas of emphasis, however, are areas from which I draw most frequently:
- Myofascial, scar and deep soft tissue work
- CranioSacral Therapy®
- Jones’ Strain/CounterStrain®
- Muscle Energy Techniques
- Pilates Rehabilitation
- Brainspotting®

The template of traditional Pilates Training is placed upon the foundations of professional training in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology required in these professions. This certification program requires over 700 hours of training, as well as a written and a practical exam, and an oral defense.
There are approximately 400 Certified Pilates Rehabilitation Practitioners in the United States. It’s a select group of professionals.

What is the evaluation?
An initial evaluation typically takes an hour. It includes a detailed review of your relevant medical history, a musculoskeletal evaluation, discussion of your goals and of our findings from the evaluation.
Essentially, we do the evaluation to find out where you are and what is limiting you. Then, we find out from you what your goals are or what your life would be like if you did not have these limitations. Then, before our next session we will design a Plan of Care, or a planned outline, of what we need to do together to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
We do re-evaluations to check our progress toward your goals and adjust your Plan of Care accordingly.
FAQ
Do I need a referral from my physician?
No, you do not. There are only two states in the United States that still require a doctor’s referral, and Colorado is not one of them. However, I am very happy to work closely with your physician, or not at all depending upon your preference.
Do you take insurance?
Payment is expected at the time of service. However, if you have insurance, I am able to provide the paperwork for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Check with your benefits coordinator to see what coverage you have for Out-Patient Physical Therapy. I am not in any insurance networks. Insurance companies typically reimburse to an individual within 30-60 days.
